We will start the e bike tour on Elder Fehn Trail (2.7mi Blue) and head down Verhinger (1mi Blue) before a high-speed run up Catamount Trail Road (2.5mi Road). Once at the top of the hill we connect with Mule Deer (0.6mi Blue) and descend down to the Mackinaw shoreline trail (2mi Blue). Return back to parking lot is another 3.5 miles for a total of 12.3 miles.
From Colorado Springs, travel west on US Highway 24 through the town of Woodland Park on your way toward Divide. Approximately 3.4 miles passed Woodland Park, there will be a left turn down Edlowe Road. Continue on Edlowe Road another 4 miles, the road ends with a parking lot area on the left.
Beginner to Intermediate mountain bike rider experience on single-track trails is required.
The Trails:
Purple Trails are forrest service roads, wider and smoother, leaving room to get around others with few obstacles to navigate.
Blue Trails become single-track with a few roots, shoots or rocks to manage, beginners may need to get off the bike and walk a few areas.
After any of our guided e bike tours we recommend stoping at BeirWerks. Serving primarily German style lagers and ales along with a few hoppy brews, BierWerks has been a local hangout since 2010. BierWerks also serves Colorado made sausage, Wisconsin cheese, warm pretzels and salami and cheese platters year-round.
The gastro pub now features a delicious menu with items such as crab, shrimp, and avocado melt, pulled pork mac and cheese, and a kimchi Rueben. They offer new specials every week, and “burger night” on a regular basis.
