Ride the Centennial Trail to Manitou Lake

Wide, paved trail to a beautiful mountain lake.

The Centennial Trail in Woodland Park, Colorado, is a popular, mostly paved, family-friendly path running along Highway 67 north towards Manitou Lakes, offering easy biking through Ponderosa pines with views of Pikes Peak, featuring gentle grades and interpretive signs about local history and ecology. It's a ~15-mile roundtrip (7.4 miles one way), great for all ages, with amenities at the Manitou Lake end and generally considered easy to moderate.

Length of Trail: approx. 15 Miles Roundtrip

Elevation Gain: 796 Ft. Gain

Trails: Green

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Duration: Plan on 2-2.5 hours

There is a scenic trail around the lake.

Manitou Lake is a 5-acre reservoir where the entire family can enjoy fishing and hiking with a trail that runs around the lake. This small reservoir is fed by Trout Creek and has several beaver ponds above the lake. Picnic sites have tables, fire grates, and trash collection.

Who knows how a "Hoodoo" is made?

Weathering, particularly frost wedging (ice expanding in cracks) and rain, erodes softer rock layers, leaving a harder, protective rock on top to form a pedestal, eventually creating tall, spire-like structures like those at Bryce Canyon.
